PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Mr F. J. Oakley presided _at the monthly meeting of the committee of the Terraco End Progressive Association held last evening. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs Parkes, Messrs W. B. Tennent, E. Anderson, J. J. O’Shea, W. J. Pearce and W. S. CtlUtCl’, The Terrace End Labour Party wrote thanking the association for assistance given to a deputation to the City Council to have improvements made to the heating of the Coronation Hall, tlie council having attended to the matter. The town clerk advised that tho matter of the accumulation of water atthe corner of Main and Albert Streets, and Church and Albert Streets, had been referred to the estimates; that the council had decided to instal an additional lamp in Main Street East between Weston Avenue and the rad* way crossing, and that in the council’s opinion Knowles and Limbrick Streets were sufficiently lighted. The Chief Postmaster advised that the request for the installation of additional public call telephone offices in Ten-ace End had been referred to the telegraph engineer for investigation, and the matter of a stamp vending machine and a signboard indicating the Post Office would be considered when alterations to Messrs Watson Bros’, premises were completed. The department also notified that the Post Office box at Terrace End was cleared more frequently than any other box outside tlie business area, and that the postal box near tlie railway crossing at Terrace End was regarded as in the most convenient place, the association having asked that it be removed to the corner of Millar and Limbrick Streets. It was decided to ask the department to have the time of clearance of tlie letter box at the Post Office clearly shown

The secretary was authorised, in order to arouse further interest in the association, to have a circular prepared for residents, showing what the association lias already done in the interests of Ten-ace End.
