MATCH AT GISBORNE. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Fell. 12. The AI.C.C. eleven heat Poverty Bay by 192 runs. A moderate westerly breeze was the only factor which prevented conditions from being perfect for the resumption of the match to-day. Having declared yesterday with live wickets down for 206, the visitors proceeded to dismiss the local team for 105, hut this morning, instead of forcing a follow-011, they sportingly elected to bat again. The score at lunch was 117 for five. After lunch Hardstaff and Human were quickly dismissed, both being taken in the slips off Bennett. Human scored freely, but was not as convincing as on the first day, giving 011 c fairlv easy chance shortly before his dismissal. Two more wickets fell cheaply and the innings was declared closed at nine for 158.

MiC.C. had attempted forcing the pace, hut the Poverty Bay howling, hacked by flawless fielding, kept them remarkably subdued. Robertson, Bennett. Fraser, and Blathwayt howled especially well. Requiring 260- runs in two hours and a-lialf, Poverty Bay ooened the second innings, but found it almost impossible to score off superb length bowling. Wickets did not fall quickly, but few runs resulted, ancf eight men were out for 29. Bennett and Fraser then added 35 in 20 minutes, despite several bowling changes, indulging in fine straight driving, mainly with occasional pulls to square leg. The innings closed at 67, leaving M.C.C. winners by 192 runs. The bowling honours were well distributed. Scores are as follow : —- M.C.C. Fiist Innings.
