CROSSING SMASH.
SIGNALS IGNORED. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 12. Miraculously escaping serious injury when the liiTlk van he was driving crashed into a train at a level crossing in Fendalton this morning, A. Thain now lies in hospital with nothing worse than facial abrasions and shock. The signals Were set and a crossingkeeper Was in the centre of the road with a “stop” sign. When the van approached the keeper fantically signalled, but the driver went on and bit the centre of the train. The van was completely wrecked.
