BLACK AND WHITE BALLS.
The twentieth century may become as famed for its black and white balls as other periods have been for their costume balls (states an English exchange). This type of function has been tried out in France recently with great success, and at a ball held in London the committee issued a request that every woman should wear black or white or a mixture of the two. Women were also asked to powder their hair in keeping with tile character of the ball.
