RONGOTEA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, Feb. 12. At the monthly meeting of directors oi the Rcngotea Co-op. Dairy Company, Held yesterday, the secretary was directed to write to the engineer of the ManawatuOroua Electric Power Board expressing ihe appreciation of the company for the prompt and efficient service rendered by the Power Board’s staff during the recent storm, the electric power having been restored during the Sunday evening, there by enabling the factory siaff to complete their work in readiness for the next day. Suppliers to the dairy company also re port, and appreciate the rapidity of tinrestoration of electric power for the milk ing plants. There was little damage donto the factory building during the storn. other than the doors being blown off tin lorry shed and a low tiles broken on tin roof of the main building. The output for the year to date is per cent, ahead of last year’s, and the make is some 16 boxes per day ahead of the previouyear’s. The pay-out for January butterfat will be lOd. The manager of the factory, in his monthly report to the directors, advised that Mr Murray Wright, a member of the butter-room staff, had been successful in passing the examination for an engine-driver’s certificate. The secretary was instructed to send Mr Wright a letter of congratulation on behalf of the board. Tho company has received no word of the guaranteed prices schedule, other than an intimation that a committee oi experts aro at present engaged considering ways and means. While the prolonged wet conditions are providing an abundance of grass for dairy cows, and helping to maintain the milk supply above its usual summer level, sheep farmers aro finding the abundance of groan feed a detriment, lambs arc going back in condition, due to the sappy growth' of pastures, and dealers are having difficulty in securing supplies of high-class lambs at tho present time. The problem of feed for tho coming winter is also causing concern. The hay crop was unusually abundant, but much of it was damaged hi the unseasonable weather, especially during the recent gales and rain. With the lack of sunshine, mangolds arc making little headway. A spell of warm sunny weather would allay anxiety. Owing to the improved attendance at the school, Miss Spence has been appointed to the staff, and will commence her duties c.n Monday next.
