World-wide sympathy and anxiety have been evoked by the King’s illness and they are reflected in the numerous messages received in London. Foreign monarehs and heads of Governments have made arrangements through their representatives in London to be kept Lilly informed of His Majesty’s progress. Prayers for the King’s recovery were offered in the churchek throughout the Empire- yesterday, and reports state that in the Dominions and colonies the bulletins are awaited with intense interest and deep concern. A notable demonstration of the affection in which the King is held by his people in Britain has been aroused. During the whole of yesterday listeners were kept informed by broadcast announcements about the King’s condition and the official bulletins were repeated throughout the afternoon and evening when the new programmes were begun. . SAD DISAPPOINTMENT. The 'public waited anxiously all day for further news of the King’s progress. A statement issued at Sandringham in the morning said there was no substantial change to record in His Majesty’s condition. The following news was eagerly looked for and the bulletin issued by the King’s doctors late in the afternoon came as a sad disappointment to millions whose hopes were ardently fixed on His Majesty’s early recovery.

The crowds which have lingered all day outside Buckingham Palace to see the official announcements as they appear were largely increased to-night. There have been many touching scenes, demonstrating the affection in which the King is held by all classes and the depth of feeling which the anxiety for his health has inspired. Messages continue tor arrive from all parts of the Empire and world, showing the deep solicitude with which the King’s illness is being followed. The Duchess of Kent lias joined the other members of the Royal Family, who are with the Queen at Sandringham, including the Prince of Wales, the Duke of York, the Duke of Kent, and the Princess Royal.
