KING'S LAST MEETING.
COUNCILLORS APPOINTED. Received January 21, 9.25 a.m. LONDON. Jan. 20. The Privy Councillors assembled in the sitting-room adjoining the King’s bedroom with the doors wide open to enable the meeting to be held in the presence of His Majesty, in accordance with constitutional practice.
The King was propped up on pillows. Lord Dawson of Penn was present as a Privy Councillor and assumed the responsibility of seeing that the King was comfortable and not subjected to undue strain.
After the usual formalities Lord Dawson presented the King with the .State paper constituting the Council 'of State. His Majesty signed it, after which the Privy Councillors and Sir Maurice Hankey lunched with tlie Queen.
The doctors have visited tlie Duke of Gloucester. They stated that it was inadvisable to travel to Sandringham unless it was absolutely necessary.
According to an official announcement His Majesty appointed as Councillors of State, the Queen, the Prince of AA'ales, the Duke of A'orlc, the Duke of Gloucester, and the Duke of Kent.
Tlie Privy Council comprised the Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Hailshaui, Air Ramsay AlacDonald, Lord Dawson, Sir Clive AVigrnm, Sir John Simon, Sir George Clerk, and Sir Maurice Hankey.
Sir Maurice Hankey told the Press that His Majesty affixed his usual signature, after which the Councillors withdrew to allow him to rest.
