DR CUNNINGHAM’S WORK. TO BE RESUMED. V Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan 20. “Dr G. H. Cunningham, who recently" resigned his position in charge of the Plant Research Station at Palmerston North, his services at the station, said Hon. D. G. Sullivan to-day. Mr Sullivan sa d the Government had been impressed with the increasing need tor attention to scientific research in problems ot protection of plants from disease and n addition to improvements to the facilities at the Plant Research Station at Palmersthn North, arrangements had been made for the continuance ot Di Cnnningham’s services. . ~ This news. Mr Sullivan said, would no doubt he welcomed by the various agricultural and fruit interests which had made representations to the Government on the subject. Some months air o Dr Cunningham had intimated his desire to resign from the Government service with a view to proceeding with work overseas, but because of improved facilities and other factors Dr Cunningham had now signified Ins desire to continue with the department m research into plant disease, and arrangements had been made by the PubliO Service Commissioner accordingly.
