NEW DIESEL PLANT.

FOUNDATIONS BEING PREPARED Work is now in hand at the Palmerston North City Council’s electric power station at Terrace End in preparation for the new Diesel generating plant, which is scheduled for delivery in January. Two new engines, each of 1400 h.p. (1250 k.v.a.) have to be accommodated, one on each end of the present bank of three 450 h.p. gas engines, so that finally five engines, with a total generating capacity of 3500 k.v.a., will bo in position. Water coolers and the platform on which they stood have been dismantled and will be placed outside the building, while the compressed air tanks are to be moved to another position where a foundation, with the necessary pipe connections, is being providefl.
