AMERICAN COAL MINERS. WASHINGTON, Sept. 26. An agreement to end the soft coal strike on October 1 has been reached between tlie producers and the miners, in t Tsthrreetaoin eion etaoin eee The terms for the settlement of the strike, which involved 400,000 bituminous coal miners were reached at a conference to-night between the unions and tire operators. Pay increases in various categories of work have been allowed. These are expected to aggregate 37,000,000 dollars a year. The miners are scheduled to return to work on October 1, thus limiting the walkout to six working days, the shortest strike in the history of the industry.
