WAIHI HOSPITAL
MATRON APPOINTED. Per Press Association. WAIHI, Sept. 26. Tho Waihi Hospital Board has been advised that the Minister of Health has approved of the appointment of Miss Elizabeth Paora, sub-matron at the Essex Maternity Home, Christchurch, as matron of the Waihi Hospital. REQUEST BY BOARD.
WAIHI, Sept. 25.. Administrative nursing positions in the Waihi Hospital and appointments to lower grades were discussed at a special meeting of the Waihi Hospital Board last night. With regard to the employment of a matron, it, was decided to ask the Department of Health to approve of the appointment of Miss Elizabeth Paora, sub-matron of the Essex Maternity Home, Christchurch, and if approval were given to ask the North Canterbury Board to release Miss Paora from her duties as soon as possible. Discussions with regard to other staffing arrangements took place in committee, and it was agreed that if the need for major operations arose during a time of understaffing the patient should be sent to the nearest hospital. No applications for the position of house surgeon were received.
