BATHROOM SPRING-CLEANING

When spring-cleaning the bathroom the bath and washbasin should not he scrubbed or cleaned with a gritty cleaner; this may remove stains, but will injure the surface, whether it be of porcelain or of enamel. Tire following treatment will clean and polish thoroughly without scratching. Rub the hath with a rag dipped in paraffin, thou rub until dry with a clean, dry cloth. Next make a paste with some soft soap, precipitated whiting and hot water. Rub this on any marks which have not disappeared, then wash it off, and dry the bath. Finally, polish with a few drops of fnrniioie cream, and the bath will look like new.

Chromuim-plated taps and fittings should never he polished with metal polish,- silver cleaner, or any cleaning powder, as in time tho plating comes off, and they need more and more cleaning. They should merely he wiped with a slightly soapy damp cloth, and polished with a dry one. As atmospheric conditions affect chromium plating it is best to have the taps enamelled white if in of all precautions the plating goes dull. Plateglass fittings should he washed in warm, soapy water and rinsed in clear water to which a little borax or ammonia has been added. Polish with a linen cloth. Mirrors should be rubbed with a rag damped with glycerine; this not only polishes hut prevents them from getting badly steamed. Sponges can he made like new by soaking them in hot water containing a little vinegar and washing soda. Rinse in several clear waters.
