MARTON, Sept. 25. Mr T. Low presided, at the annual meeting, last evening, of the Marten Bowling Club. The chairman said the financial position was not as good as was tho case last season, and it would seem that one of three 1 1 lings would require to be done: (1) Reduce the cost of green upkeep, (2) i-* cease the fees, or ,(3) increase the membership. The report (already published) was adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: — President, Mr Low; vice-presidents, Messrs M. N.-Atkinson and D. Morrison; secretary and treasurer, Mr D. P. I’ortooiis; assistant treasurer, Mr M. N. Atkinson; auditor, Mr Hawke; commit tee, Messrs G. Kerens, B. Parkos. F. A. Hemplenmn, S, Goebel, J. Mogridgc; sole selector, Air A. Todd; green supervisor. Air D. Morrison; pavilion steward, Mr W. Watt: delegate to centre, Mr G. R. Simpson (Wanganui). Following a long discussion it was decided to call applications for the position of caretaker of the green. Messrs F. G. Gabites, C. F. Marshall-Smith and ],. Stubbs were elected new members. The fixing of flic official opening date was left in the bands of the committee. Air G. W. Brown congratulated the president oil the mannrr in which he bad inaugurated competitions, and moved that the competitions as arranged fiy the president be carried on next, season. The motion was carried. At the conclusion of the meeting flic president presented the singles championship trophy to Afr G. W. Brown, while Mr AI. N. Atkinson presented the trophy for the runner-up to Air Low.
