MUSICAL COMEDY
PRAISE FOR “SALLY.” The second night presentation by the Palmerston North Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society of the musical comedy “Sally,” in the Opera House last evening, delighted a large audience, who showed unrestrained appreciation of the talented teamwork in the production. Approbation is increasing as the five-night season progresses, and warm praise has been voiced particularly for the ballets, a strong feature of “Sally.” The play sparkles with humorous interludes, has sweet, captivating music, and provides a good deal of scope for dancing, both eccentric and of the orthodox nature. Added to this attractive combination of appeal is the vigour with which the performance is invested, and the finished work of the principals, among whom Mr McBrearty is outstanding in the comedy role. He gives one of the most finished representations ever seen in a production by the society. The play is full of skilfully .manoeuvred situations and nimble repartee. It reflects the greatest credit upon the performers and the producers (Messrs Harisou Cook and E. Cousins). There have been heavy bookings for “Sally,” which concludes on Saturday. The attendance on Tuesday evening was a first night record for the society.
