PURITY OF MILK.
TESTS FOR TUBERCULOSIS. Mr IV. E. Barnard asked the Minister of Agriculture (Hon. C. E. Macmillan), to-day, whether the Government will be in the interests of public health take steps to ensure that all dairy cows are tested for tuberculosis. Mr Macmillan replied that the application to all dairy cows in the Dominion of the test for the determining of the presence of tuberculosis had been under examination by the Government. It had (been shown that to carry it out would involve a great volume of work by trained men and heavy financial expenditure. The question of bow the public health could still further be safeguarded, than under the existing system was having the present consideration of the Government.
During the 1934-35 financial vear 707 samrdes of mixed milk of individual herds were subjected to the biological test for tuberculosis and all except eight gave a negative result.
