GERMANY “OFFENDED.”
POLE IMPRISONED. Received September 26, 11.10 a.m. WARSAW, Sept. 25. A Jewish merchant named Halbersradt has been sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment for “offending” Germany. He had returned a letter from a German firm unopened, writing on the envelope, “1 refuse to deal with Germany as long as Hitler rules.” The German authorities protested to Poland, resulting in Halberstadt’s arrest.
