FUNERAL OF HUEY LONG.
AN ENORMOUS GATHERING. MONTREAL, Sept. 12. A message from Baton Rouge says that the late Senator Huey P. Long was buried in the grounus of the magnificent State House which he built and which he often said would be a monument to himself. Throughout last night and to-day thousands of mourners filed past tne bier m the memorial hall of the capitol, with its 70U0 square feet of floor space literally carpeted with flowers. At least 150,000, chiefly farmers and country folk and their families, gathered by railways and automobiles to see the burial. Rev. Gerald L. Smith, leader of the “Share Our ’Wealth” societies, delivered a sermon which was divided between praise for the fallen leader and a thinly-veiled challenge to political enemies to attempt to overthrow the political machine Senator Long left. The funeral was hardly over before friends and foes of the dead Senator started preparations for the political fight.
