YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES.

Dullness prevailed in every section of the markets on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, and, with few exceptions, a weak tone was apparent. Obviously, in view of the disturbed and uncertain international situation, investors aro hesitant. Government loans were quiet with a easy, tendency in some quotations. The 4 i)er cent stock, 1949, sold at £llO 2s 6d. Bank shares showed little change. Buyers marked Dalgetv and Coy. shares up to £8 10s, sellers staying at £8 12s 6d Goldsbrough Mort were unchanged. Equitable Building advanced to 61s, but sellers held firmly for £5. Mortgage Corporation had sales at 6s 2d and 6s 3d. There was a fair inquiry for gas shares. Christchurch were easier at 345, and Wellington were wanted at 395. National Insurance sold at 20s Bd, but New Zealand were easier on business at 64s 4d, South British improved to 93s 6(1. All industrial and trading issues were extremely quiet. Broken Hill Proprietary weakened to 64s 3d, sellers 655. Gold mining shares continued dull. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
