WHAKAROXGO. Sept. 12 The monthly meeting of the VVhaka* rongo School ’ Committee was heal on, Monday night, all being present, lticlucljing the head teacher (Mrs Eggers). Before business was (commenced the committee stood in silence in respect and sympathy for Mr Newcombo, Miss O’Brien, and Mr Oxenham owing jto their recent bereavements. Mrs Eggers reported that there was every prospect of an increase in the school roll this term as several new children were expected to attend. Mrs Jiggers'? resignation was received by the committee with regret, members stating it would he difficult to fill her position. The following were the prize winners of the euchre on Tuesday night:—Ladies; Miss Harris (Ashhurst) 1, Mrs IValker 2; men, Mr G. Johnson 1, Mr Shannon 2. Consolations: Mrs McMurray and Mr Eagle. Dancing followed supper, a professional orchestra supplying the music. Mr H. Gore was M.C.
