DANNEVIRKE

DANNEVIRKE. Sept. 12. A meeting of the reserves committee of the Dannevirke Borough Council, together with several representative citizens, .was held last evening, the object being the consideration of town planning locally. The following suggested reserves were recommended: Children’s playing area adjoining the South School: an area at Mangatera opposite the hotel. It was considered that the site of the present North School recommended by the town planner for a sports and recreation area, was too near the present domain, and it was agreed that Mr R. D._ Hill (town planner) be asked to submit for the committee’s consideration an area nearer Mangatera. It was resolved to recommend that the section adjoining tile domain, comprising the cliff face, and the flat ground below, be improved for inclusion in the present domain, and that the tongue of county land bounding the domain on its eastern side, and severed by the Mangatera stream, be included in the recreation area in the present lower domain. AVith reference to the tongues of land comprising parts of sections 61 and 64, bounded by the Mangatera stream, consideration was deferred until the matter of a scenic j drive had been _ gone into by the streets sub-committee.
