HIGHWAYS ESTIMATES.
OROUA COUNTY FIGURES. The Oroua County, Council yesterday received the annual statement from the Main Highways Board, giving details of the main highway estimates for maintenance and construction for the current year. The Oroua county figures are as follow: —Mangaone bridge, £SO, subsidy, £2 for £1; AwahuriMangaweta road, £75, £3 for £1; Feilding-Stanway. £B7O, £3 for £1; Greatford-Woodville, £1845, £3 for £1; Himatangi-Asbhurst, £lO5, £3 for £1; Ashhurst-Pohanginn, £593, £3 for £1 (preparation), £3OOO, £3 for £1 (sealing); Feilding-llunter-ville, £l5O, £3 for £1; Taonui-Rau-mai, £612, £3 for £l. The engineer (Mr It. L. Harding) stated that all the maintenance amounts applied for by the council had been reduced by the board.
The chairman (Cr. A. Campbell) pointed out that the board only had a certain amount of money and iinder the circumstances the council had nothing to quibble, about. The communication was received.
