COMPENSATION AWARD.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 12. Compensation amounting to £l3B was awarded Irwyn Turner, shearer, of French Pass, by the Arbitration Court in a reserved judgment to-day in an action against Hervey Richard Duncan, brewer, of Nelson. Plaintiff was endeavouring to start the engine in defendant’s shearing shed when the cranking handle came out of the socket and struck him on the -knee. Compensation was based on the average earnings during the shearing season though for the greater part of the year he worked for another employer at much lower wages.
