RUMOURS OF WITHDRAAVAL. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept. 12. It is strongly rumoured that Sir Alexander llerdman is withdrawing' from the Parnell contest. AATien seen to-day Sir Alexander declined to make any statement. The candidates remaining are Messrs AV. P. Endean (the sitting Nationalist), A. G. Osborne (Labour), F. C. Jordan (Liberal) and H. N. Woodruffe (Independent). It is regarded as probable that the Democrats may nominate a candidate. MENTION IN AYELLINGTON. (By Telegraph—Special to Standard.) AYELLINGTON, Sept. 12. It is authoritatively stated in Parliamentary circles here that Sir Alexander Herdman has decided not to contest the Parnell seat.
