DEBATING CONTEST.
INTER-UNIVERSITY EVENT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 12. Otago won the Joynt Scroll interuniversity debating contest to-night, with Auckland second and Victoria third. Miss E. M. Johnston, M.A. (Auckland) was adjudged the best speakei, Mr K. W. Stewart (Otago) second, and Mr W. J. Meade, B.A. (Otago), third. The judges said the debate had not reached as high a standard as previous contests.
