STANDBY PLANT
WELLINGTON COUNCIL’S ACTION. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 11. The Wellington City Council, at the last of a series of special meetings today, decided to order additional plant for the Evans Bay steam power station, more than doubling the present output and capacity. The units ordered are a 15,000 kilowatt Parsons tur-bo-generator and two 7500 kilowatt Velox steam generators made by Brown Boveri, of Switzerland. The steam generator has a boiler of very advanced design which makes it possible for a full load to be taken up in a matter of minutes as compared with one to two hours now. It is understood the new plant will cost £IOO,OOO without installation charges.
