SATURDAY’S MATCHES. On Saturday next, at Podding, the Alanawatu senior representatives will play then ninth fixture lor the season. Ihcir opponents on this occasion arc Wanganui The representatives of the liver city beat Manawatu last year' to the tunc of 29 to 21 and the local team is keen to avenge that defeat. The homo representatives have a wonderful rocoid this season After losing the first two games they have had six successive encounters with major unions, emerging from them with aii unbeaten record and gathering’ on the way the scalps of such important unions as Taranaki, Hawke's Lay, and Wairarapa. Wanganui and Wellington have still to he met and local enthusiasts must he keen to sec two further victories. Wanganui have the reputation for fust and open football, and the game oil Saturday is sure to provide sufficient fireworks to keep the crowd on their toes. The curtain-raiser will be provided by the two Fcilding teams. At their last meeting Feilding Old Boys narrowly averted defeat and with several members playing in the representative team they will need lo be all out to defeat the yellows. Never before has Fcilding provided such a feast of football and enthusiasts wishing a seat on the stand will need to he at the ground bright and early. At Palmerston North on the Oval the local patrons who are not travelling to Fcilding aro to bo well catered for. St. Patrick’s are playing Old Boys and as the loser will have no further chance in tho competition both teams will ho striving for victory. The curtain-raiser between Old Boys and United is the final of the junior competition and here again a good game should result.
