OBITUARY.

MR JOHN WILLYS. NEW YORK, Aug. 25. The death has occurred of Mr John Willys, the automobile ’ manufacturer, and at one time United States Ambassador to Poland. Mr John North Willys started bis business career in a bicycle business at Canandargua, New York, in IS9O. He later removed to Elmira and organised the Elmira Arms Co., also engaging in selling motor-cars on a large scale. In 1907 lie purchased the Indianapolis plant of the Overland Automobile Co., and two yeais later bought the Pope Toledo plant at Toledo. Later he was chairman of the board and co-receiver of the Willys-Overland Co., Toledo, and the Willys-Morrow Co., Elmira. From 1930 to 1932 he was United States Ambassador to Poland. He owned one of the most famous collections of oil paintings in Ohio. THOS. A. EDISON, JUNE. NEW YORK. Aug. 25. A message irom Springfield (Massachusetts) states that Thomas A. Edison, jurir., son of the inventor, died on Sunday at an hotel here from heart failure. He registered on Friday night with two male companions under assumed names. David William Davies, aged 95, the oldest minister of the Presbyterian Church in Australia.
