CHEESE MARKET FIRMER. Joseph Nathan and Coy., Ltd., have received from London the following cabled advice, dated August 21: —Now Zealand cheese: White, 48s 6d; coloured, 47s 6d. Market, firmer. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy., Ltd., have received the following advice from their London house, dated August 21: —Dairy produce (last week's quotations in parentheses) : —Butter, New Zealand choicest salted, 94s per ewt (94s to 94s 6d). Market, quiet. Cheese: White, 49s per ewt (48s 6d to 495) ; coloured, 47s 6d to 48s per ewt (47s 6d to 48s). Market firm. WANGANUI WOOL SALE. A BRIGHTER OUTLOOK. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., in conjunction with Abraham and Williams. Ltd., report as under: —At the crutching sale held at Wanganui approximately 3400 bales were offered to a good attendance of buyers. The steady rises reported in the wool market during the past few months were reflected very strongly at this sale, especially on all grades of crutehings. Our top price, 7RI for crutehings, was obtained for a 5 bale lino branded AS/Huia, sold on account of Mr Alex Sutherland, lordell. Fleece wool sold at alrout Id to lid in advance of the rates ruling at the.close of last season. A very nice parcel of 9 bales of Romney ram hogget wool sold on account of Mr James Campion, of Okirae, realised 10|d. A splendid clearance was obtained for crutehings and oddments. Growers have every reason to look forward to more remunerative prices for the coming clip. Cows are reported to be coming in well in the South Wairarapn this season, and the yields of milk are well up to the average. , An interesting photograph of a di>p.a\ of bacon pigs forwarded to the London market by the Canterbury A. and 1 . Association was placed on the table by Mr James Simpson, of Soulhbridgc. at the meeting of the New Zetland rig Breeders’ Association in Palmerston North yesterday. A four-acre stand of . lucerne is to be seen on the Devondalc farm, Belfast, Canterbury which produced something of a record last season. Jt was sown on October 1 and three cuts were taken for ensilage before the end of April—less than six months. In the Waitotara district, block 10.002 rabbits were poisoned, one man accounting for as many as 8771. When the ground was covered a second' time 350 rabbits were poisoned, most of them hein" young animals. In addition to those destroyed in this area 8000 were poisoned in the Wnngaelm area.
