HIGHWAYS GRANTS.
FOR KIWITEA COUNTY. Particulars of the main highway estimates were received yesterday by the Kiwitea County Council from the district engineer of the Public Works Department, forwarding the figures covering both construction and revenue funds. . The only entry in the construction account was £4 lor Harre s bridge, on the Feilding-Hunterville highway, the grant being the final payment. On the maintenance side the tollowing items were enumerated: Awahuri-Mangaweka via Rimbolton highway: £1384 (£3 for £1 subsidy). Cheitenham-Coulter’s Line, reconstruction and sealing: £5700 for £1) • Kimbolton-Apiti highway: £l5O (ij* for £1). Feilding-Hunterville: £oJU (£3 for £1). , , It was reported that the council had received the greater part of what it had applied for.
