'Wanganui detectives have for some days past been trying to trace the whereabouts of Phyllis Margaret Davey, aged 15, of Raetihi. On July 17 she was sent by her mother to Raetihi township to purchase meat, .fruit and a newspaper, also to collect the mail at the post office. On the day following her disappearance Mrs Davey received a letter from her daughter saying she had gone to Pipiriki to get a job. She said she had seen aMr Brown, who wanted a girl. On inquiries being made it was found that the girl had not been to Pipiriki and that there was no one of that name living on the Wanganui River. The girl is sft. Tin. in height, of stout build (bust 40in.), fresh complexion, thick light brown hair and natural teeth (some missing at the back). She lias a noticeable boil scar near the centre of her nose and a birth mark oil the back of her neck under her liair, which is bobbed and worn with a fringe. She has a high instep, and walks on the inside of her feet.

When last seen the girl was wearing a blue velour coat with fur collar and cuffs with a row of buttons on either side. She was also wearing old canvas shoes with holes, no stockings or hat and carried a crocodile skin purse.
