COLLEGIATE MATCH. SATURDAY’S CHARITY ATTRACTION. Although the local Boys’ High School has found it inconvenient to play St. Patrick’s (Siliferstream) in the match that had come to be regarded as the annual charity fixture, Sacred Heart, Auckland, have been invited to fill tho breach, and will consequently play St. Patrick’s at the Showgrounds on Saturday next. The proceeds from the match will bo devoted to the Mayor’s fund for the relief of distress amongst the local unemployed. In the past two years over £l5O has been raised by tho charity football match, and it is anticipated that Saturday’s game will prove even more successful from a financial point of view. In their two previous visits to Palmerston North, Silverstreain have impressed followers of the national winter code that they are capable of playing that type of clean, fast, and open football that is so essentially collegiate and delightful to witness. Silverstreain, though a young college, has already earned a place amongst the jeading secondary schools of the Dominion in so far as its Rugby is concerned, and this year it will again be represented by an outstanding fifteen. This season they have won all except one of their intercollegiate matches, their loss being at the hands of the New Plymouth Boys High School at Hawera. Their grade football record is also convincing, and if Press reports of previous matches are any criterion they should provide brilliant football oil Saturday. Sacred Heart have always taken a prominent part in the Auckland. seeondi ary schools Rugby championship. Last | season the team went through the second round of that competition without ■ suffering a deteat, finishing in second place to Auckland Grammar with a record of seven wins, two losses, one draw, 15S points for and 65 against. This season the college competition was closer than ever, and although only two points behind the champions, Sacred Heart had to be content with third place to Auckland Grammar and Mt. Albert Grammar. Both the teams include outstanding players. The “star” of the Sacred Heart side is Wade, the full-back. Last season he scored 77 points with his kicking and, playing in the senior grade for Marist, was thought by many to be the most promising foot* bailer in Auckland. Reid, second fiveeighth, and Hampton, centre, are the two outstanding backs in the St. Patrick’s fifteen. Both are very fast, and have very effective attacking methods. In the recent match against Wellington College, Reid was playing brilliantly until an injury necessitated his retirement. Hampton was also slightly injured, but that did not prevent him from scoring four tries and making openings for others. AYhatever the out* come of Saturday’s match, given fine weather the fixture should provide the best football of the season, and the match merits a record attendance on its dual appeal as a charity and college fixture.

WEDNESDAY GAMES. The Pirates team for to-morrow is: Poiglase, Prisk, Lane, Gardner, Quigg. Stubbs, Mclver, Dynes, Mrisen, McNeil, Gittings, Berkahn, Ram, Tweedale, Harris, Thomas. Fixtures are: —Kowhai v. St. 1 atrick's, oval, 2.30 p.m.; v United and Kia Toa combined, No. 2 grounds, 2.30.
