THREE CHALLENGES ACCEPTED. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 20. Three Ranfurly Shield challenges were accepted by tlio Canterbury Rugby Union’s management committee tonight, and four others were referred to the New Zealand Union with a request that it should decide which of the four should he given a fixture on tlie only available date, September 28. Tlie challenges accepted were:— Southland, August 31; South Canterbury, September 14; Otago, September 21.

The challenges referred to the New Zealand Union were from Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Wellington, and Ashburton. With the acceptance of Otago’s challenge a proviso was made that three balls should he used, it being stated that a few years ago the Otago Union had insisted on the use of only one ball.
