CATTLE SUBSIDY BILL.
THE SECOND READING. . CLAIM BY AIINISTER. Received Jttlv 20. 11 a.m. LONDON, July 19. In the House of Commons, Air A\ T . E. Elliot (Alinister of Agriculture) defending the proposed extension of the cattle subsidy, declared that the fall in food prices since 1925 was equivalent to £230,000.000 yearly, benefiting tho working class almost exclusively. He urged that y proportion of it should 1m? used to maintain farm wages and produce home foodstuffs. The Bill was read tho second time bv 148 votes to 34.
