COMPENSATION CLAIM.
PREVIOUS APPLICATIONS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 18. During the hearing of a compensation chum by the Arbitration Court to-day, the claimant, Alfred Douglas, a watersider, said he had been injured six times previously and received compensation each time. On this occasion his back was injured by a bale of wool, and his counsel said that medical evidence would show that his spine had been fractured. The company contended that Douglas was now able to earn full wages. The company’s counsel said: This is your seventh claim since 1928, is it not? Claimant: I could not say. In reply to* the Judge, he said he could not recollect the exact number, counsel then mentioning an injury to a leg in 1928. to the back in 1929, to a leg in 1930, to a kneecap in 1931 to a finger in 1932, and to a hand in the same year Claimant said ho remembered having got compensation for these. Claimant’s counsel protested against this line of questioning, saying it must be intended to prejudice claimant.
