THE COUNTY MATCHES.

BOWLERS’ GOOD FIGURES. Received July 17, 9.50 a.m. LONDON, July 16. Bowlers had the run of luck in the county cricket matches this week. Cover, who has been prominent in Surrey’s bowling performances of late, secured seven Kent wickets for 64. J. Cornford, the young Sussex trundler, dismissed four Worcester batsmen for 17 runs. Walter Smith, the youthful Leicester bowler, took seven Warwick wickets for 49 runs. Voce employed his fast deliveries against Derby with profit, taking four for 118. By way of recompense, G. Pope took four Notts wickets for 30. Batsmen had a poor innings generally, through there were several with scores in the vicinity of 90. Gunn made 113 (not out) for Notts. Pearce (132) and Cutmoro (1()0 not out) bolstered the Essex tally in the match with Northants

The popular Hendreii compiled 99 (not out) for Middlesex against Lancashire. Details are as follow: Kent v. Surrey.—Kent: First innings 335 (Ashdown 90); second innings, 191 (Cover 7 for 64). Condol'd 4 for 17). Sussex: First innings, 350 (Wensley, not out, 76) ; second innings, 1 for 136. Sussex won by nine wickets. Glamorgan v. Somerset.—Glamorgan: First innings, 119 (Cameron 5 for 50) ; second innings, 225 (White 5 for 73). Somerset: First innings 199 (Mercer 6 for 72); second innings, 3 for 146 (F. Lee, nob out, 90). Somerset won by seven wickets. Leicester v. Warwick.—Leicester: First innings, 241; second innings, 262 (Armstrong 90). Warwick: First innings, 148 (Smith 7 for 49) ; second innings, 205 (Smith 4 for 52). Leicester won by 150 runs. Derby v.
