(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILSON, July 16.

The monthly meeting o' the Mihon School Committee was held in the schoolroom on Monday evening. Mr Murphy pre- : sided and also present were Messrs McAvoy, Richmond, and Robertson. Mr L. | Robertson was elected to fill the position 1 of secretary caused by the resignation of Mr A. S. C. Franklyn, who lias been transferred to Picton, tho vacancy on the committee being filled by Mr T. Hutchison, who was unanimously elected. It was resolved that tho wheelbarrow kindly donated by Mr P. Robbie be raffled for funds to assist the school, and a letter ol appreciation be sent to tho donor ior his gift. A letter of appreciation is also to be sent to Messrs Goldingham and Beckett, Ltd., for their donation to tho school football club. The arrangements for Arbor Day to ho hold the first week in August are well in hand and Mr Murphy has offered to procure the necessary trees for planting, ’the committeo unanimously decided that a record bo placed in the books of tho high esteem and appreciation of Miss J. Jordan’s faithful and able service during her term on the teaching staff of the school. It was decided to support the policy of the Federation executive with the exception of tho remits regarding free dental clinic treatment and free milk. Owing to the prevalence of chicken-pox among the pupils it was deemed advisable to hold over the arrangements ior tho school ball till a later date, and it was left in the hands of the headmaster (Mr McEwan) to decide a date. A circular was received referring to tree planting to commemorate the King s Silver ."fubilee, but no action was taken meanwhile. On Friday afternoon the llokowhitu School football team visited Milson for a match with the local team, the visitors being beaten by eight points to nil after a good game. 1 ries were scored for Milson bv J. Robbie and J. McAvoy, the latter converting his try. The school girls’ basketball team visited Russell Street for a match and wore beaten by four goals to live. Mrs T. Hartley, who has been the guest of Mrs C. Ferguson, Montreal Street, has returned to- Drury. Miss R. Bartlett, /o Hunlcrville, was a visitor to Milson during the week-end. Mr E. Buluier is at present c-onlincd to liis home through illness.
