(From Our Own Correspondent.) GLEN OROUA, July 15. The fortnightly euchre party and dance of the Glen Oroua Social Club was held in the hall on Thursday night, when there was a good attendance. The ladies’ euchre prizes were won by A 1 irs I. 1 armor and Mrs It. Mudford, while the men’s awards went to Mr W. Davison (Rongotea) and Mr W. Boswell. A Monto Carlo waltz wa3 won by Mr T. Goodwin and Miss Bottcher. Mr L. H. Ihle was M.C. for the dance for which music was supplied by the usual orchestra. . , The local ladies’ basketball tcani, in the B grade competition, recently played two matches on the homo ground. Jhe first match against Rangiotu resulted in a win for the visitors by 9 goals to 8, while the second, against Bulls, resulted in a draw, each side scoring 8 goals. i'lr« I ■ RSaunders refereed both games. The local schoolgirls, playing in the Te Kawau schools basketball competition for the Koster Rose Bowl, met the Oroua Downs girls on the Glen Oroua ground on Friday afternoon. Tho match was p ayed at a fast pace throughout, and resulted in a win for Glon Oroua by 15 goals to 5 Miss E. M. Harris refereed. The visitdug team were entertained at afternoon tea by the home players. The combined Glen Oroua-J aikorea schoolboys’ football playing against tlio much heavier Kopano-Kairanga combination, suffered defeat at Kopanc _ on Saturday morning by 27 points to nil. Mr D. S. Davev relumed, home on Saturday after spending a holiday in Taranaki.
