LOANS IN VICTORIA.
QUESTION OE REMITTANCES. It was reported by tho works committee to this week’s meeting of tho Palmerston North City Council that the Municipal Association had. written in reference to municipal authorities having loans domiciled in Victoria, and the decision of counsel to the association had been that local bodies should avail themselves of the provisions of the Financial Emergency Act, 1931, Victoria, and should deduct 4s (id in the £ on money remitted, being the reduction allowed by the Act. It was also requested in the letter that particulars be supplied relating to any loans the council might have domiciled in Victoria, and requesting all local bodies interested to support the Jilt. Albert Borough Council in the proposed action to be taken against it by the T. and G. Mutual Life Assurance Society. “It was agreed to supply the necessary information ns requested, and to recommend the council to agree to contribute its share of the cost of tho defence of the local body concerned,” said the report, which was adopted.
