RONGOTEA TOWNSHIP.
HIGHWAY SEALING. Brief reference Avas made to the sealing of the main highway through the township of Rongotea, yesterday, at the meeting of the' ManaAvatu County Council, Avhen a letter Avas received from the Public Works Department on the question. Tho letter stated that the council’s letter of July 1 had been referred to the Main Highways Board, Avhich had decided that the Avhole of the Avork should be postponed until a more seasonable date ; also that the Avhole of the Avork should he carried out by contract. As the Dfanawatu County Council Avas not agreeable to recommend the acceptance of any tenders already received, it would he necessary to readvertise the work at a later date.
The letter Avas received Avitliout comment, the chairman (Cv W. E. Barber) stating that the matter Avould be raised at a later date.
