A STATEMENT DENIED. AUCKLAND, June 23. The chairman of the Auckland Education Board, Mr T. U. Wells, said last night that no suggestion of the building proposals disclosed by Mr G. Maddison at Hastings had come before his board. The Minister of Education (Hon. S. G. Smith), who is also Minister of Employment, was interviewed in Wellington by telephone, and disclaimed all knowledge of the matter. He added that the proposals which Mr Maddison seemed to regard as definite had not even come under his notice.
