) MARTON, June 1. Miss Lydia Scott, who is attending the re-union of old pupils of Sacred Heart Convent, Wanganui, is the guest of Mrs J. T. Werry, St. John’s Hill. Mr and Mrs Alan Marshall, “The Ilidges,” Rata, are visiting Rotorua and Auckland. Mrs Stewart, who is the guest of Mrs H. J. Gould, leaves for Gisborne early next week. Miss Tudor, Hunterville, is visiting Mrs Edward Smith, Queen Street. Miss M. Howie, of Wanganui, left Marton today for a holiday in the Hawke’s Bay. Miss C. Carver was the guest of honour at a bridge party given by Mrs W. F. Stevens and Mrs H. F. Low at the residence of Mrs Stevens last evening. Mr A. C. Long, who has been a member of the staff of the Bank of Australia, Huntcrville, for the past six years has received notice of his transfer to the Marton branch, where ho will relieve for four weeks. There was a good attendance at last night’s meeting of the M.U., 1.0.0. F. Lodge, which was the quarterly summoned meeting. One new member was admitted, and one proposed. Correspondence included invitations from Manawatu and Wanganui Lodges to installation., ceremonies, and it was decided to accept both. The'chief business was the election of officers, which resulted as follows:—N.G., Dro. H. W. Archibald (unopposed) ; V.G., liro. J. I. Clark (unopposed) ; E.S., Bro. T. S. Tarry (three nominations) ; Warden, Bro. J. Hands (two nominations); Guardian, Bro. C. S. Button (three nominations).
