MAY RAINFALL.

ABOVE AVERAGE. Records kept by Mr F. Mason, >Sandon Road, snow that rain fell on 12 days last month for a total of s.Bßins, compared with the average for the month of 3.27in5. The heavy fall was in accord, however, with the records of the four preceding months which, with May, give a total of 20.65in5. for the period against the average for the same period of 13.55in5: The chief fall during May, Mr Mason states, was that when the recent flood occurred, when 3.2 Bins. were recorded in two days. Immediately prior to this .97in. had fallen, making over 4ins. of rain in less than the same number of days—a very heavy fall. A light fall of snow, had been recorded early in the month, this, with the heavy ram towards the end, making it an eventful month from a weather point of view.
