ITALY DECIDES
A COMPROMISE ACCEPTED
DISPUTE FOR ARBITRATION,
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received May 25, 1.55 p.m. GENEVA. May 24. Italy has accepted a compromise on the Abyssinian dispute. The terms, embodying a reaffirmation of the arbitration clause of the 1928 treaty, fix a time limit for conciliation. The Council is meeting in August if arbitration fails.
An earlier London message stated : Persistent reports from Geneva and Paris state that Signor Mussolini at the last minute has agreed to refer to the Arbitration Commission the disputes responsible for the Italian-Abys-sinian tension, while another commission will consider the frontier delimitation. The fact that the Council meeting has been postponed lends colour to the story.
