MT. RICHARDS ROAD.
(From Oiir Own Correspondent.) KOMAKO, May 25.
Rain fell heavily during flic week, and several landslides resulted. One slip, which blocked the Mount Richards-Utuwai Road delayed the muil car on Thursday us it was impassable until mid day. Coal Crock and tho l’ohangina River have been very high atid discoloured, contributing their hit to the flood country lower down. Thursday’s basketball practice was out of tlie question as the ground was damp and spongy, and playing under these conditions wus an impossibility. It lias boon decided riot to enter a toam for the King’s birthday tournament as tho usual standard has not yet been attained through forced lack of practice. Mrs J. L. Nash, oE Scott’s Road, Linton, returned homo on Friday ufter spending a holiday at “Komo.” Misses I. and E. Roberts are week-ending at Linton, and Miss M. E. Wingate at Palmerston North. Miss A. Wingate, of Wanganui, is holidaying at “Cairnsmore.” On Monday evening about 30 friends of Mr C. F. Vile paid him a surpriso visit in celebration of his birthday anniversary. A jolly evening was spent hv all and several vocal and musical numbers were contributed by tho guests.
