CHURCH OF ENGLAND.
THE AUSTRALIAN PRIMACY. SYDNEY, March 14. The House of Bishops, after meeting at Sydney, announced the election of the Archbishop of Perth, the Rt. Itev. Henry Frewen le Fanu, as Primate of the Church of England in Australia. The official statement said: “The issue from the beginning was the relative importance of the traditional locution of the primacy at Sydney and the value of the Archbishop of Perth’s long experience of Australian conditions and problems. The House of Bishops therefore decided to elect Archbishop le Fanu, who has been acting as Primate since the death of the late Archbishop of Sydney.”
