HIGH LEVEL OF STATE DEPOSITS. OVER £l2 MILLION MARK. WELLINGTON. March 15. The 32nd weekly statement cf assets and liabililics cf the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as at the close of business on Monday, March 11, is as follows: ,
Proportion of reserve (No. 8 less _ No. 6) to notes and other demand liabilities, 97.29 per cent., compared with 97.10 per cent, on March 4. Slate deposits continue to mount up, a further increase of £1.215.185 13s 9d bringing the total up to £12,325,998 8s Yd. Trading banks’ deposits show a shrinkage of £607,974 lls 9d for the week to £4,64b,34b 17s 4d. Other demand liabilities have increased by £3271 lls 9d and now stand at £7480 5s lOd. Ihe note issue at £9,184,041 10s shows an increase of £2921. Other liabilities at £50,280 16s Id show a rise of £4030. On the assets si’do gold remains unchanged at £3,001.731. The principal change is an increase of £644,476 13s 4d in sterling exchange, which amounts to £22,454,687 ,9s 2d. Subsidiary coin at £179.073 18s lid shows a decrease of £4456' 16s lOd. Investments have increased by £10,567 18s lid and now stand at £2,057,539. Other assets at. £23.116 9s 4d show a decrease of £33.154 Is lid. The statement balances at £27,716,147 17s lOd, an increase of £617,433 13s 6d.
