ADDINGTON SALE. A SLIGHT EASING. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 13. Entries generally wore larger at today’s Addington market, and in most sections there was a slight easing. Store lambs: A heavy penning of about 15,000, principally backward lambs frem stations. Recent values wore about maintained. Rape lambs sold from 13s to 15s 7d; ordinary wether, 9s to 12s; ordinary ewe, 15s to 16s 3d. Stoic ewes: Another heavy entry included Chatham Island and Nelson sheep. Coed ewes maintained recent rates, but ordinary and inferior sorts were easier. Extra good Romney two-tooths made to 31s 9d; best halfbred to 28s 6d; extra good s.m., 21s to 22s 3d; good s.m., 17s to 17s Sd; medium, 15s 6d to 16s 3d; inferior, 11s to 12s 6cl. An average yarding of cattle and a large offering of sheep and lambs wore forward at the Johnsonville stock sale held yesterday by Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd. V ith a moderate entry of 232 fat cattle values improved up to 10s a head 011 cows and heifers at to-day’s sale at Stortford Lodge, when tho demand was well* maintained at the improved levels. The quality of. tho entry was very mixed, with few prime cattle offering and a fair proportion of medium finished cattle. Bullocks were few and of poor quality. The entry of 302 store cattle sold steadily at late rates, there being increased activity. A moderate entry of fat sheep met with steady competition, with ewes improving bq Is to Is 6d a head, while wethors and lambs sold steadily at late rates, there heing more export competition. Tho 15,000 store sheep offered realised good prices for lambs and store ewes, but breeding ewes wore variable according to quality. DUNEDIN, March 13. There was a largo entry in the fat cattle section and a medium yarding of fat sheep to-day at Burnside. The fat cattle numbered 354 head, resulting in an oversupply and a consequent casing in prices. Competition was not very keen at any stage except for an odd pen of good cattle. The market opened with prices showing a general fall, and passings at (he start of the sale were fairly frequent. The market closed with good prime beef down 10s per head, and ordinary unfinished hoof down by 15s to 20s per head. Extra prime heavy bullocks sold to £ll 7s 6d; prime heavy, £8 12s 6d to £9 12s 6d; medium, £6 17s 6d to £7 17s 6d; lighter sorts, £5 to £6 7s 6d; prime cows and heifers, £5 2s 6d to £7 2s 6d; medium, y £3 12s 6d to £4 7s fid. There were 227 head of store cattle forward. Three and four-year-old steers in good condition made £4 17s. Vcalers sold at slightly lower rates than last week. The entry of 44 dairy cows included a few of good quality, and up to £6 was realised for young cows close to profit. A medium entry of 1700 fat sheep was composed chiefly of ewes. The bulk of tho owes - were of good quality, and 'the sale was steady throughout, prices showing little variation on last week’s. A small entry of wethers also met with a firm sale. Prime heavy wethers sold at 28;; medium, 22s to 245; lighter, 18s to 20s. Prime ewes sold to 20s fid; prime medium, 15s to 17s; and lighter sorts, 12s to 14s. The fat lamb entry numbered 1130, chiefly of medium quality. • Exporters operated freely at full schedule rates, and secured the bulk of the yarding. A small yarding of 82 fat pigs had a good sale; baconers making up to £4 15s, and jjorkers from £2 to £2 15s. A small yarding of 51 store pigs met a good market, best making up to 18s, and suckers from 9s to 13s.
