TRACK WORK AT TRENTIIAM. VISITORS’ EASY MORNING. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 14. The first o£ the visiting horses for the Wellington meeting arrived yesterday, but they did not do any serious work on the Trentham tracks this morning. Their number included Silver Ring, Gay Blonde, Gay Sheik. Speed, Lady Spy, Royal Dash, and Cuddle. On appearance all look particularly well, and especially does this apply to Gay Blonde, Speed and Cuddle. After a heavy over-night shower the weather was dull, but later in the forenoon the sun burst through again. The plough Avas slightly heavy and the outside of the course proper Avas also open. Silver Ring did an easy seven furlongs on tho plough in 1.36£, the last half mile in 53i sec. lie galloped A*ery smoothly. Gay Blonde and Gay Sheik, each ridden by A. Tinker, avCio separately cantered round on the course proper, sharpening up only over the last furlong. Cuddle did an easy round on the plough and Speed, Royal Dash, and Lady Spy accomplished exercise tasks. Red Sun Avent a mile, being picked up at the seven furlong post by Suneo, Avho beat him home in 1.44. Ea-ch did a half mile in 52sec.

Going Gay was always clear of Lc Grand ovoi* live furlongs in 1.5|, the last half mile in 52sec, but Lo Grand Avas not galloping generously till near the finish. On the outside of the course proper Shirley Dene sprinted half a mile in 48soc. Princess Doreen, Might, and Te Ua Avere associated o\'or a mile on the plough. Princess Doreen failed to go off and immediately stood the other pair up four or five lengths. Te Ua Avent with Might to tho half mile in and then Princess Doreen ran up to Might, but the lastnamed drew away again to lead the mare past the post by four lengths, traversing the mile in 1.42 i. Princess Doreen is to start in the Thompson Handicap. Orby’s Last drew away from Darecourt in the last furlong of a mile run in 1.45, tho last half mile m hSlscc. Del ip m finished avcll to beat Shy by three parts of a length over six furlongs m 1.17, the last half mile in 52Asec. Linoleum rather surprised by running a mile in 1.44, the lost half mile in 53iec, but ho docs not seem to go so Avell in company. Fulojoy led Derbham over the cany part of six furlongs in 1.17£, but Debham was going nicely and they Avero on terms at the post, the last half mile taking them Verden, Avith Billy Boy joining m at the six furlong post, Avent a mile in 1.46*. Several other local horses were Avorked, but the times Avere not instructive. The course proper at Trentham is in excellent order, being green and yielding, but an exception is the upper arm of the six furlongs section, which has not been Avatorc and is very hard. Ihe sprinters will, therefore, have two sorts of going to handle in their races at the week-end.
