(From Our Own Correspondent.) OPIKI. March 11. A well-patronised concert and dance, arranged by the Linton and Opiki Women’s Institutes, was held in the Opiki id all on Friday evening. Linton was responsible lor the very enjoyable concert programme! and also brought musicians for the dunce, while Opiki, uei.ng as hostess institute, attended to the supper arrangements. Before the concert began, Mrs Wilde, on behalf of the members of the Opiki Institute, welcomed all present and expressed thanks to the Linton Institute. She- presented their president (Mrs Lynch) with a bouquet which had been made by Mrs La men. Items on the concert.programme included a pianoforte duet by Misses Irvine and Lynch; song. Miss Leamy, ol Longburn; song. Mrs Walker; violin solo, Miss Monica Lynch; recitation, Miss M. Onglcy (i’al- , nierston North); song, Mr Sherrill; duet, Mr Sherrill and Mr Alderslcy; dance, Irish jig. .Mias ,\|. Lynch: pianoforte i>clo, Alim Leamy. The whole programme reflected great credit upon the periormers, who delighted the audience. At the conc.usion of ilie concert programme a one-act play, ‘‘Reunion,” was presented by the Linton Drama Circle. The caste of was as follows: Mrs Hyde, Airs ClreUon; Elizabeth (her daughter), Mas Harrison; Joint (her son). All' Walker: Alartlui Brown (a friend). All’s Lynch. The very high standard of acting portrayed the characters so thoroughly that the attention of the audience tuts gripped and held from Hie opening speech till the very dramatic climax upon which the curtain falls tit the end. After supper, dancing was enjoyed till well alter midnight, for which Air ‘I. Lynch, ol Linton, was M.C. .Miss V. Henderson, who returned from Wellington a short time ago, ns at present away on holiday in Aiaslei'fon. Airs Jarvie is in Wanganui staying with friends.
