MT. RICHARDS ROAD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) MT. RICHARDS, March 10. During the week-end members of the local tramping club embarked on another long climb, (his time their destination being the Toko trig. The preliminary journey to the foot'of the ranges was made by car, after which the trampers climbed steadily to the summit (some 5000 ft. above sea-level). The ascent was made via the two mountain paths popularly known as Short’s and Knight’s tracks. Forces wore joined at the Trig, where the billy was boiled. Refreshment was taken beside a crystal lake in a setting of lofty ridges. A slight mist obstructed the view to some extent, but in spite of this a wonderful panorama spread beneath. The party comprised : Misses A. Port, B. Rodin, Mrs A. N. Roberts, Misses K. Caldwell, A. Batchelar, I. Roberts, R. Lancaster, E. Iv. Wingate, R. Duffy, E. Roberts, R. Hitchman, and M. Wingate, Messrs L. Port, A. N. Roberts, W. Dunne, J. Stevens, R. Port, R. Saxton, V. Port and L. Pawson. Sheep-dogs are being trained in readiness for competition in the annual trials at Komako this month. The atmosphere is now more temperate, two slight frosts having been experienced. Mr and Mrs M. Arbon of Komako are visiting Taupo. Miss K. Caldwell, of Awahou, has been visiting Misses Roberts, of Mount Richards Road.
